Welcome to the new Lick Of The Week, I wanted to share with you this cool footage from when we were in pre production for the recording of my The Color Of Light CD. I am in the studio at Midtown Sound working with Drummer Rob Stankiewicz. Ethan Meixsell is there working the board and helping me with counting time signatures lol We are working on the arrangement and the parts to the song “The Alchemist”. The sound is huge!!. I am using my Ibanez RG Bal 7 running into a Cornford MK 50 head. You can see pedals on the floor at one point. A kelley Modded Boss SD- 1 a Boss NS-2 and a Morley 1 Wah. A lot of artists do not show this kind of stuff so I thought you would enjoy it.

This Gear Spotlight I would like to feature The Majik Box Body Blow overdrive pedal. Majik box makes killer pedals that are made in the USA and sound great! The Body Blow is a great OD pedal , I love that it has a vintage .Mod switch and also another switch called Body. You can get some nice vintage sounds from it as well as more modern tones from using the vin/mod switch and the body switch lets you add some bass to your signal which I really like. Welcome to the new Lick Of The Week, Sorry it has been so long since I posted. I will try to stay on schedule. Thank you for all the emails. I also want to thank all the fans who have been liking my music page on FB. You all rock.
This week I wanted to go over the Dorian mode. I have been teaching a long time and everyone comes in and does not know what the modes are. It is easy when you think about it the way I am showing it. You just need to make sure to practice the mode starting and ending on the root to get the sound of the mode in your head when you first start out. Very important is to experiment with riffs that fit over the mode and the modes tonic. In the case of this LOTW do not just play a C major scale, the notes will be correct but it will not sound as good as if you worked out riffs with thinking of the tonic sound D and also landing on the 3rd F and the B note.

I am using my Ibanez RG and using a keeley modded Boss OD 1 and using a Dunlop Univibe ( the new Hendrix one)

I am using my Ibanez RGA Prestige and going through a Cornford MK 5011 and running an Ibanez TS 808 Hand Wired.. with an MXR phase 90 and Morley Maverick Wah. Red Bear Picks.. D’addario Strings and Dimarzio Pick Ups..

Welcome to the new Lick Of The Week, I wanted to share some footage from Namm. I performed at The Majik Box booth. This is Day 1 and my first performance for Majik Box. I am using my Ibanez RGA and running through a Marshall 2000 head a boss delay and I am using the Majik box Body Blow OD as well as there new Distortion pedal which is killer. Also using a Morley Maverick Wah, Red bear picks and D’addario Strings and of course my guitar have DiMarzios. Thanks to all at Majik Box and thanks to Stefano Xotta for filming the vid.

The Feature Gear spotlight this time is a killer pedal by Keeley Electronics called the Nova Wah. If you have not tried this pedal yet, I suggest you do. I love this pedal, I recently used it while recording my new CD on a track called Burrata. It gives you an array of tones that you would get if you put your foot on your wah and held it in different locations. It is really a cool design and makes for very vocal sounding guitar melodies.

Welcome to the new Lick Of The Week, I wanted to sahre some footage of me recording some tracks to the new CD, This tune is called Moonlight and has a great feel to it. I am using my Ibanez RG Prestige and for the amp I am plugged into a mesa boogie mini rectifier for the clean sound. I am runing into an Xotic compressor before going into a Vintech 273 mic pre and then into a Digi 003 modded by black Lion audio.

Welcome to the new Lick Of The Week, sorry it has been a while. It has been busy here in NY at Blue Buddha Studios this is a demo of the Free The Tone Gigs Boson Over Drive Pedal. It is a very musical pedal and to me a great pedal is like an instrument. This adds just the right amount of over drive to my over drive sound without changing the character of my original tone.
